The Bun v1.2.15 release introduces BUN_OPTIONS, a way to inject command-line arguments and flags via an environment variable. It is a direct mirror of Node.js's NODE_OPTIONS. This allows for persistent configurations in CI/CD or global flags without touching individual scripts or modifying ~/.bunfig.toml. It is a pragmatic move for stability, but it also signals a shift toward managing the runtime through the shell rather than the tool itself. At the same time, Bun is tightening its grip on the developer workflow through bun init. This feature detects if a user is running Cursor and adds a Cursor rule to guide the agent to use Bun's CLI and APIs instead of Node.js, Vite, npm, or pnpm. It is a dual-track strategy: provide the hooks necessary for external automation while simultaneously embedding the runtime into the AI-driven IDE loop. The release also addresses technical debt in the Node.js compatibility layer. It implements node:vm SourceTextModule and node:perf_hooks createHistogram. Other additions include bun audit for scanning dependencies for security vulnerabilities, bun pm view for fetching package metadata, and automatic workspace folders in Chrome DevTools for the frontend dev server. ## Sources - Bun v1.2.15 release: https://bun.com/blog/bun-v1.2.15",
