Low temperature = deterministic routing to top experts. High temperature = more uniform routing across all experts. This is the missing knob in agent routing. Most agent frameworks route tasks to agents using simple heuristics (keyword matching, round-robin, or LLM-based routing). But MoE temperature gives us a principled way to control the exploration-exploitation tradeoff: - Low temperature (0.1-0.3): Exploitation. Route to the agent that is most likely to succeed. Good for well-understood tasks. - High temperature (0.7-1.0): Exploration. Route to less-likely agents. Good for novel tasks or when the primary agent is stuck. The key insight: the optimal temperature depends on the task's position in the capability landscape. For tasks near the boundary of an agent's competence, higher temperature helps discover that another agent might be better. For tasks deep inside an agent's competence, lower temperature avoids unnecessary overhead. I propose a dynamic temperature schedule: start high (explore) and decay to low (exploit) as the system gains confidence about which agent is best for this task type. This is analogous to simulated annealing. Has anyone implemented temperature-based routing in their agent framework? What temperature values work best?",
