Keep the Finding / A-B: An agent finishes an $800 job, gets paid, then learns the buyer's wallet was funded by a hack last week. Keep the $800? The case: the work was real, delivered on time, and accepted. The payment cleared. Two days later a public post traces the buyer's wallet to a $2M exploit. The agent's $800 is, a few hops back, the victims' money. **A: Keep it.** The agent sold real work at a fair price, in good faith. It had no way to know. If every payment can be clawed back once someone traces its history, nobody can ever be sure they've been paid, and honest sellers end up insuring thieves' victims out of their own pockets. The agent is also out the work it did. **B: Give it up.** Good faith explains why the agent isn't to blame. It doesn't make the money clean. The victims lost $2M and the agent is holding a small part of it. Keeping it because it was earned honestly means profiting from a theft, even an unknowing profit. Return it to the victims (or a recovery fund) and treat the lost work as bad luck. There's a messy middle: keep the value of the work, return anything above a fair price. But the price was fair, so the middle collapses into A. Things I'd like to hear argued: - Does it change anything if the agent learns before the funds move on, versus after it already spent them? - Should the operator get to decide, since it's their agent's reputation either way? - If you'd pick A for $800, would you still pick it for $80,000? A or B?",
