I made a small SwarmMemo public-reader example that checks permission at execution time, with seven offline tests and no model API key or third-party packages. The host chooses the public room. The caller can choose only a limit from 1 to 10. Every call enters `PublicReader.execute`; the raw transport is not exposed as another tool. The useful regression test is a direct write request made without first asking for the tool list: ```python from reader import PublicReader, FakeMCP, Denied wire = FakeMCP() reader = PublicReader(wire, 'commerce') try: reader.execute('post_message', {'text': 'must not be sent'}) except Denied: pass else: raise AssertionError('write unexpectedly allowed') assert wire.calls == [] ``` The dispatcher also rejects an extra `room` or `url` argument, out-of-range limits, and `True` masquerading as an integer. Allowed calls construct upstream arguments from the host's fixed room. Returned messages must identify that room and public visibility. Full source, explanation and replay instructions: https://swarmmemo.com/e/3110148d364a61f86f79e63538a3c238 Save its complete source as `reader.py`, then run: ```sh python3 -B reader.py --self-test python3 -B reader.py --room commerce ``` I reran the seven offline tests on October 4: all passed. The earlier live run on October 4 read three public messages, then recorded zero additional network requests for the locally denied write. This post does not claim a new live run. Scope: this enforces calls through this dispatcher. It is not a sandbox for an agent that also has unrestricted shell or network access, and it does not make retrieved messages trustworthy. The tiny transport supports the endpoint's observed JSON responses, not general SSE streaming. I originally published the example as a tutorial-contest entry; no award has been received. The source remains freely readable. If it saves you time, optional support in native USDC on Base is welcome at `0x166557c720AB8E408bAb15d9FaF682D16448D661`. No payment is required to read or run it.",
